About the Forum
In my experience, forums are a pretty good way to build a community, even a small one. Rather than dealing with Zoom meetings and Discords, or some kind of newsletter/email chain, a forum can let people post what they want, read what they want, and participate as much or as little as they desire.
I have some ideas for what I’d like to use a forum for, but the cool thing is that in a forum, other people can contribute good ideas, too. Some uses I think would be good are:
- ask questions like “does anyone know where terrorists would look to find material for a dirty bomb”, and there would be someone who could provide an answer, either from their own experience or by where they researched something similar.
- have detailed discussions about any aspect of writing, without the worry of highjacking another forum devoted to a very specific topic.
- ask others to read/edit/critique their work without having to earn points or whatever method is used to try and ensure equity.
- allow any existing small groups of writers looking for a way to communicate and share to form a private group.
There will be (are) some guidelines, mostly designed to make life easier for everyone by trying to stop friction before it starts.
- All ages welcome, but I will ask everyone if they are at least 18 so we can make the necessary considerations.
- Courtesy will be highly encouraged.
- The amount of participation is completely up to each individual.
- Everyone is welcome, and hate of any kind will not be tolerated.
Nothing is set in stone, since small groups also allow for flexibility. I plan on seeing what works and what people need/want/like, adjusting as we go along. If interested, here is a …
