a word about AI

I’ll keep this simple.

There are lots of reasons to avoid AI, and some reasons to use it. Everyone has to make their own decision, then live with the consequences.

For me, I want nothing to do with AI, simply because what I get out of writing fiction is lessened by its use. Therefore, I will not use it anywhere in the process I use to write.

I also don’t want to read anything written with the help of AI in any part of the process, so if you want me to read something you’ve written, don’t tell me. I will take you at your word, so you can lie, and I will read. A result of my desire to trust.

All of which means, as far as this site is concerned, I will encourage the following:

1. Every writer decides how much or how little they use AI in their process.
2. Every writer will be encouraged to make a statement regarding how much or how little AI was used, and for what purposes.
3. Every reader will be free to decide what they want to read.
4. Finally, to avoid conflict, everyone will be encouraged to trust each other.
